How to Help The U.S. Troops fighting in Iraq
If you're interested in sending items to our men and women in the military who are far away from home, you can do it through the Red Cross. The Military is asking that you don't send items yourself because more than likely they would be thrown away due to fears about chemical and biological warfare. However, you can donate items through the USO and the Red Cross, as those two organizations have been commissioned by the Military. If you'd like to drop off items, you can do it at Gallo Florist at 123 Saratoga Road in the Socha Plaza in Glenville. Items that are needed include, sunglasses, sunblock, hand lotion, bug spray, toothpaste and soap. Also, cards, games, books and magazines are also being requested. Please include a letter to a soldier with your donated items. Thanks for your support, and for more information on how to help, contact the local branch of the Red Cross. Peace!
Also, if you have loved ones serving and you'd like information on them, or how to send packages to them, you can call the soldier hotline at 1-800-833-6622.
